"Sometimes there is no next time, no time-outs, no second chances. Sometimes it’s now or never." - Alan Bennett
Hi you guys, It’s Tien. I decided to quit my job to chase my dream, which I shared in this post (https://tienvm.com/non-tech-singapore-va-hoai-bao-cua-tuoi-tre). Sometimes I ask myself whether it is a spontaneous decision or not. I cannot anticipate what will happen in the future, but I’m elated with what I have and do right now.
First, I do not think quitting my job was spontaneous because I had thought about and considered it a lot in the past; I also asked my best friend, Mr. Hoang(hoangpn.com), what I should do. He gave me much helpful advice, which motivated me to move forward. Furthermore, I want to get out of my comfort zone, seek my discomfort and challenge myself more. Since I have many goals, I need to make every possible effort to reach them.
Secondly, staying at home and learning full-time is not a good decision because of financial problems. In contrast, in my outlook, sometimes we need to prepare carefully for huge breakthroughs in our careers and life. In my perspective, once in a while, we will not anticipate what will happen in the future. Next pandemic, having a family, or struggling with the financial situation we must confront.
Thirdly, wholeheartedly, I want to become multilingual and be able to use more than two foreign languages for communication. I will tend to learn a new language in parallel with maintaining daily English after I get the IELTS certification. The most effective measure is doing right now, not planning. When I get older, in retrospect, I will not regret anything I did when I was young. Instead, I want to share my experience or motivating stories with my children and grandchildren.
“Goals can provide direction and even push you forward in the short term. However, eventually, a well-designed system will always win. Having a plan is what matters. Committing to the process is what makes the difference.” You can read more at this link: Forget About Setting Goals. Focus on This Instead - James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits book.
Finally, I am elated with what I am doing and following right now. I hope that if you have a goal or dream, you need to consider doing it immediately and not fear making mistakes.
Thanks for reading time, and see you guys in my next posts.
